Hey look, we've changed the website drastically; you might also notice that you were redirected to Blogspot from the Ohio-State domain. Oh, it makes things so much simpler to have all of the web editing in one place, instead of using ftp to access the Ohio State servers and edit the PHP files, which you needed to be an officer in the group to do. But of course, you're here to learn more about the group or see what we're up to and not to hear me rant about that stuff. Nonetheless, I'm happier.
And on that note, welcome to the new website. Now with a better interface than Google Sites had, we should be updating with our activities more often. Feel free to browse around and let me know if you see anything awry.

New Quarter, New Year, and a whole lot of goings on
Welcome back to school! Well that's what I should have said 2 weeks ago, but that's a part of coming back to school and having no free time again. We're all excited to be back at school again, I know I am (-.-)zZzZz.
Due to some controversy over changes to our student organization constitution, we've decided to start over with it. In our first meeting of the quarter, we got a little heated about where we're going to take our little organization and the things we need to do to improve. Up first to the chopping block was the proposal to change the organization's constitution, which had been changed without following the proper procedures described therein. Some of our executive members met up prior to this meeting to discuss what we needed to change and where we could move forward. As such, we had rewritten a substantial amount of the constitution. It was also brought up that we should change the name of our organization. One of our members pointed out this youtube Video of Ali G trying to understand the difference between vets as veterans and vets as veterinarians.
We'll be having our second meeting to discuss the changes to the Vets 4 Vets Constitution tomorrow, January 24th, before we move to vote on the revisions at our next regularly scheduled meeting on February 7th. You'll need to have attended at least 2 meetings this quarter (includes the Feb 7 meeting) or have attended at least 2 meetings last quarter to vote as a member. The meetings are at 104 15th Ave, Columbus, OH 43201 starting at 6:00pm (1800 for those still running on military time).
I'll be looking to update this site more frequently this quarter with more information about service and group events to coincide with the updates on our Facebook group.
The Ohio Union is planning a 50th anniversary of John Glenn's orbit of Earth. As part of the week of programming, they are looking to honor John Glenn's service in the Navy and Marines, as well as your service. In talking with Mr. Forrest, the Union is trying to invite about 20-25 total, Navy and Marine veterans for a breakfast on Monday February, 13th at 7 a.m. The event will take place at the RPAC amphitheater, and will include a short speech by a current veteran, as well as an informal take away breakfast. They also are planning on having postcards for veterans to write to John Glenn that the Union can give him at the end of the week. So, we'd like to get 20-25 Navy and Marine veterans that are interested in receiving an invitation to this event. If you would like to receive and invitation to the event, please email us at OSUVets4Vets@gmail.com with your Name and OSU dot number and we'll add you to the list.
And on that note, I'd like to remind everyone that OSU's priority deadline for FAFSA and Application for Special Scholarships is February 15th, so be sure to get yours in. There's multiple university scholarships and financial aid awards that come with it to help you pay for the things your GI Bill doesn't cover. The Student Financial Aid website (http://sfa.osu.edu) has plenty of good information for you and can direct you where to look for help.
Lastly, Ohio State held their Winter Involvement Fair for student organizations a little over a week ago and we hosted our own Vets 4 Vets table for incoming veterans to OSU. Check out all these goofs that decided to volunteer.
